The Itasca County Sheriff’s Office says its investigating the suspicious death of a Deer River woman whose body was found lying in a ditch on Thursday. The body of 37-year-old Rikki Skog was found in the ditch along County Road 39, near Ball Club, around 7 last night. Preliminary information indicates Skog was last seen on Wednesday. Due to the circumstances surrounding the incident, the Minnesota BCA Crime Scene Team was requested to assist with processing the scene and the ongoing investigation. The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains active, and no additional information is available for release at this time. Anyone who may have seen Skog on or after Jul. 15 or who has information that may assist investigators is asked to contact the Itasca County Sheriff’s Office at 218-326-3477 and selecting Option 1.
