The Minnesota State Patrol responded Tuesday morning to a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup in Sherburne County. The preliminary crash report indicates the collision occurred around 6:45 a.m. on Highway 169. The State Patrol says the motorcyclist was traveling south on Highway 169 when he collided with a pickup whose driver was attempting to cross the four-lane divided highway at an intersection just north of Elk River. The State Patrol identified the deceased motorcyclist as 25-year-old Jacob Hoel of Blaine. The pickup driver, identified as 22-year-old David Marsh of Farmington, was not injured. The State Patrol report indicates he was wearing a seatbelt and that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
