One person was killed and another was injured in a fire in Lake City. The Lake City Fire Department says crews responded to the blaze shortly before 7:00 Sunday morning. Initial reports indicated people were trapped inside of the burning structure. Responding firefighters encountered a fully engulfed building when they arrived at the scene of the fire. Lake City Fire Chief Dan Patterson described the building as a “2 story multi-family dwelling with balloon frame construction.” He says fire was showing on all four sides of the building and on the roof line. The front porch roofline had collapsed and the second floor had partially collapsed. Firefighters rushed into the second floor, where they retrieved one of the occupants and delivered her to an ambulance crew by getting her out through a second-floor window, Patterson said. She was taken to definitive care. Patterson described her as a young female. Her name has not been released. Patterson indicates firefighters found the second occupant dead inside of the home. That person’s name has not been released. No other injuries were reported and a cause of the deadly fire has not yet been released. Patterson said crews stayed on scene for roughly seven hours.
