Tuesday's COVID-19 update from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) includes 625 new cases and one new death. To be clear, the 625 cases include data submitted to the health department Saturday-Monday, so it's three days of data, not one.The state's death toll is 7,639 since the start of the pandemic. Of the total deaths, 58.8% (4,492) were residents of long-term care. The figures released on Monday is based on data from Friday, with the weekend's figures due to be released. Through July 19, the number of people with COVID-19 hospitalized in Minnesota was 109 (up from 101 reported Monday). Of those hospitalized, 25 people were in intensive care and 84 were receiving non-ICU treatment. The 625 positive results in Tuesday's update were from 25,252 completed tests, creating a test positivity rate of 2.47%. According to Johns Hopkins University, Minnesota's test positivity rate over the past seven days is 1.99%, which has been ticking up as the Delta variant spreads, having recently been below 1%. Todd County is currently at 2,873 along with 33 deaths.
